"Art from the heart sums up the power and delicacy of Gill Newlyn's work. Each sculpture is born from pure emotion and deep intuition, as if the heart guides the hand. Her works are felt with rare sincerity.

It is not just art, it is a connection and perhaps that is why her pieces touch us so deeply.

Owning a sculpture by Gill Newlyn is much more than acquiring an object of art: it is welcoming a presence into one's space. Her pieces are not mere decorations; they become silent companions, guardians of stories."

Sculptures

Contemporary sculptures, capturing character and movement, inspired by three lives and counting.

Finely detailed pieces cast in bronze, metal infused resin and polymer clay originals.

Cats

“This two-piece sculpture takes my breath away. There's something electric in the moment of connection between the cats, as if it's happening in real time."

Musicians

"I love the tranquil simplicity of this. The musician is in repose, and there is sadness in her. She is cradling her fiddle very gently, as if it were a living creature."

Donkeys

"Gill's sculptures really are made with love and reflect the passion she has for her art. Each sculpted animal has a personality of its own, which I think, is a very exceptional aspect to capture."

Cordoba

"Cordoba is a masterpiece. I love the combination of tautness and fluidity in the horse’s muscles, and the harmony between horse and rider."

Horses

"You can sense the tension in the pose, taut muscles, straining neck, eyes like saucers, legs firmly planted ready for an immediate explosive retreat."

Bernies

“It was a stroke of genius to turn that iconic photo of Bernie into a figurine! Everyone, whatever their politics, loved the sight of him in his mitts, opting out of the glitz."

"Gill makes incredibly lovely little sculptures of horses, donkeys, cats and humans. They are so exquisite because they are each full of life, warmth and character.

Looking at them is like looking at a friend."

The Process

Every piece starts with an idea and a piece of wire. Silver foil and clay form the bulk which is shaped to a finely detailed finish using precision dental tools.

Bronze pieces are cast at the highly respected foundry, Lunts and are finished to an extremely high standard. Resin pieces mix real metal powders—iron and copper—with high-quality resin, cast by a local Kerry craftsman. The result are sculptures that look and feel exactly like solid metal.

Hi, I'm Gill

'm a self taught professional sculptor and musician and my husband and I live and work on the west coast of Ireland, half way up a Kerry mountain on the Wild Atlantic Way.

I sculpt only what I know and what I've lived and loved across six decades and three lifetimes.

Beyond the Clay

When I am not at the workbench you will find me with my fiddle, learning a tune, rehearsing a set or doing a gig with my husband Chris, and our dear friend, Anita, in our 15 year old band, blackmailed & bereft.
