This two-piece sculpture takes my breath away. There's something electric in the moment of connection between the cats, as if it's happening in real time. Even from a few metres away, you can sense tension in their bodies and fixity in the way their eyes interlock. As you go closer, the more alive they become. Every aspect of their attentiveness has been captured with extraordinary subtlety and precision. There is something rhythmic in the way they’ve been sculpted so that their beautiful contours flow towards each other. The mottle in the patina is exactly like rippling fur, giving them a mysterious glow. They have pride of place on our mantelpiece, and I often feel compelled to hold them because they are so smooth and have such a satisfying weight.
